Works on the reconstruction of water supply network from Skenderija to the City Hall, in the municipalities Centar and Stari Grad, in the length of 2 kilometers, started yesterday.
“It is a reconstruction of the pipeline that supplied the central part of the city and that we have set as a primary objective in order to reduce water reduction. This pipeline is connected to locations where we have the most pronounced water reductions. It was built back in 1961 and we found that it is in a very bad state through our analysis. We hope to repair this part of the water supply network in order to preserve a lot more water in our reservoirs and thus to reduce the current reductions in the central parts of the city,” explained Director of PUC “Water and Sewerage”, Nezir Hadzic.
According to the planned dynamics and short-term goals that the PUC “Water and Sewerage” submitted to the Government of the Canton Sarajevo, work should be completed in 90 days.
“Total value of the works amounts to 1.1 million BAM and it is financed by the Canton of Sarajevo through the Ministry of municipal economy and infrastructure of the Canton Sarajevo,” said Minister Hasanspahic.
Prime Minister Konakovic emphasized that one of the five largest projects of PUC “Water and Sewerage” have started, with which will be achieved a significant reduction of water losses, according to expert estimates, 50 liters per second. He expects that the works will be completed on time.
The first works on the reconstruction of this part of the water supply network are carried out from Drvenija to Latin Bridge.
It was emphasized that the implementation of the project will not question the regular water supply so that citizens will remain without water supply only during the process of switching the pipes, and they will be timely informed by PUC “Water and Sewerage”.
