sarajevo_view (3)The capital city of BiH has been placed on the list of 10 European cities that tourists have to visit this summer.

Editors at the popular portal ‘Virtual Tourist’ have made a list on the basis of price, but also the beauty of cities that are not that well known among tourists.

“While many are familiar with the events of the 1990’s, not many are familiar with the cultural, historical and successful renewal of this city. Sarajevo has been heavily influenced by the Roman, Ottoman and Austro-Hungarian empires, which can be seen today at every corner. In Baščaršija, the old part of the city from the Ottoman period, there is the Sebilj. Among the many tourist attractions are the Cathedral, the building of the Academy of Fina Arts and the Latin Bridge across the Miljacka, where the Archduke Franz Ferdinand was killed, triggering the First World War’’, written on the portal in order to explain why tourists should visit Sarajevo.

In addition to the capital city of BiH, on the list can also be found Hamburg, Porto, Zagreb, the capital city of Malta Valletta, Budapest, and the capital city of Latvia Riga and Valencia.

Regarding the order of the most popular tourist cities on the old continent, Sarajevo has been placed in front of Dubrovnik, Granada and Manchester.

Arguably, the most popular cities are Paris, followed by London, Amsterdam, Rome, Barcelona, Venice, and Vienna.
