A Russian ballet “The Nutcracker”, brought the deepest feelings of the audience in Tuzla, a city 140 km northeast to Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH)’s capital, local media reported Saturday.

Audience at the full “Mejdan Hall” witnessed the eagerly anticipated and unique visual and musical spectacle “The Nutcracker”, played by 40 ballet dancers from the St. Petersburg State Ballet. Several minutes of applause confirmed that the fairy tale about the Christmas dream and girl Masha is very popular among the audience of several generations.

The ballet on the ice tells a story about the King, Queen, Princess and evil Mouse King who turned the Princess ugly and only the beautiful Prince, who was able to crack the magical Nut could disenchant her. On the other side of the world, it is night time, Christmas and the girl Masha hears a rustle of a mice. The clock rings and the room becomes fool of mice which are trying to ruin the Christmas tree.

Nutcracker gets alive and starts fighting with the Mouse King, killing him with Masha’s help.

The miracle happens – Masha becomes an adult, the Nutcracker becomes the beautiful prince, and they both travel to the magical palace Konfiturenburg, dancing a ball. Masha wakes up and understands that all was just a dream. She is a child again, holding the Nutcracker doll in her hands.

“The Nutcracker” is the last of three ballet pieces made by the great Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and one of the most beautiful works of the classical ballet literature.

St. Petersburg State Ballet was funded in 1967, for the first time in the world performing the real classical ballet on an ice rink installed on theatre stage. The Nutcracker has gained enormous popularity since the late 1960s, and especially during the Christmas season.
