After the acquittal in The Hague Tribunal, Vojislav Šešelj said that the judges have reached the only possible decision from the legal point.
“I have been notified about the verdict by The Hague Tribunal not long ago. Two honorable and fair judges have proven that professionalism and honor are above any political pressure. They resisted all pressures and reached the only possible verdict from the legal point. I express deep regret that my close friends Milan Martić, the General Zdravko Tolimir, who was executed in The Hague Tribunal, Radovan Karadžić and some others did not have honorable judges in their Trial Chambers. They would be released, too,” Šešelj added.
Furthermore, Šešelj stated: “I could have get at least a short sentence, so that the enemies of the Serbs do not rage this much. How many Serbs were killed in the separated Slovenia? How many Serbs were killed by Croats in the cities under their control? Over 600.000 Serbs were exiled. The world public forgot that, but we, as a nation, will never forget. Those who bombed us can never be our friends”.
When asked by a journalist whether it is true that the larger the sentence, the stronger the idea of Great Serbia gets, Šešelj said: “The idea of the Great Serbia will live even without me. I demand a compensation amounting to 12 million EUR from The Hague Tribunal. I have always been accepted by all people in Serbia”.
Moreover, Šešelj said that the international tribunals have no legal sense and that they are instruments of the western forces. “If I have been tried before the Trial Chamber that tried Karadžić, I would get larger sentence than he did. The idiot who sentenced him has already sentenced me several times for contempt of the court. I would get 70 or 80 years in prison. I will spend one part of the compensation on my party, one part will go to charity, to cultural institutions,” Šešelj said.
