The Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina Zoran Tegeltija, talked today in Sarajevo with the President of the National Council of the Parliament of the Republic of Austria, Wolfgang Sobotka, about the current political and economic situation in BiH and the region.

During the meeting, Chairman Tegeltija assessed that the cooperation between the two friendly countries has an ascending line in all areas.

He stated that very good political relations without open issues are accompanied by equally good economic ties, given that Austria is one of the most important investors in BiH and a significant foreign trade partner with which BiH has a surplus.

He pointed out information and communication technologies as a promising area of cooperation between the two countries, as a driver of future growth and one of the ways to stop the outflow of BiH. population, especially young people.

They also discussed the migrant crisis that BiH and the region are facing.

Chairman Tegeltija emphasized that the migrant crisis exceeds the capacities of BiH, which cannot cope with this global problem on its own, and that strong assistance from the European Union and the international community is needed in stopping the movement of migrants towards BiH.

During the meeting, the cooperation between the two countries in other areas was also welcomed, primarily in culture, and the desire for its continuation and further improvement was expressed.

The Chairman Tegeltija emphasized the need for the political crisis in BiH to be resolved through internal dialogue, without imposing solutions from the outside.

Tegeltija thanked the Republic of Austria for its continuous support to the European path of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the implementation of structural reforms, as well as Austria’s assistance in the procurement and delivery of vaccines.
