Textile Industry records significant Increase this Year

textileIn the year of 2016, the total foreign trade of BiH amounted to 26,030,271,122 BAM, of which the trade industry, textiles, clothing, leather, and footwear made 3,280,049,157 BAM or 7.94 %.

In the period from January to December 2016, the total volume of foreign trade was increased in the sector of textiles, clothing, leather and footwear by 155 355 445 BAM or about 4.7 % more than in the same period in 2015.

Total imports of BH economy in 2016 amounted to 16,261,247,925 BAM, which represents an increase of 859 311 441 BAM when compared to the same period of 2015 by 6.3 %.

Of these, the import of industry of textiles, clothing, leather and footwear amounted to 1,917,222,003 BAM, and it represents an increase by 111 381 570 BAM in comparison to the same period of 2015.

Total exports of BH economy in 2016 amounted to 9,769,023,197 BAM and it was increased by 551 040 330 BAM or 4.19 % when compared to the same period of 2015.

Of these, exports of the industry of textiles, clothing, leather and footwear in 2016 was realized in the amount of 1,362,827,154 BAM, which represents an increase of 43,973,875 BAM compared to the same period in 2015, and it makes 7.17 % of the total exports of our country.

The import/export ratio of all industries amounted to 70.65 % in 2014, and it was increased to 73.03 % in the year of 2015, while it fell to 70.08 % in 2016.

Traditionally, EU countries are the most important market for this BH industry. When it comes to export in the first 3 months of this year, the top 10 countries in which we exported these products are: Italy (115.95 million BAM – of which 82.87 million BAM of footwear), Germany (65, 06 million BAM of which 20.55 million BAM of footwear), Austria (43.72 million BAM of which only 11.05 million BAM of footwear), Slovenia (37.57 million BAM, of which 10.15 million BAM of leather products), France (16.97 million BAM – all footwear products), Croatia (10.97 million BAM), Poland (8.8 million BAM), Sweden (3.6 million BAM), Switzerland (2.9 million BAM) and Serbia (1.98 million BAM).
