The 25th Prayer Day for the Homeland, a traditional gathering that promotes unity, prayer and the permanent connection of the Croatian people with their own history, identity and homeland, was celebrated on Bobovac today.

The Prayer Day for the Homeland gathered numerous believers, representatives of church and social life, as well as members of the Armed Forces and other institutions. The program began with a procession, after which a Eucharistic celebration was celebrated, with a prayer for the peace, stability and future of Bosnia and Herzegovina and for the well-being of the Croatian people, announced the Croatian National Assembly of BiH (HNS BiH).

The celebration was attended by the President of the Croatian National Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dragan Čović, and the representative in the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the elected Croatian member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Darijana Filipović.

“Bobovac, the former seat of the Bosnian rulers, has a special place in the historical memory and identity of the Croatian people. The prayer gathering at this historic place is an opportunity to preserve the national and spiritual heritage, but also a confirmation of the importance of togetherness, mutual respect and responsibility for future generations,” stated the HNS of BiH.

The importance of permanent advocacy for the constitutional equality of the Croatian people, institutional stability and the construction of a European Bosnia and Herzegovina, in which peace, security and the conditions for the survival and prosperity of all its peoples will be ensured, was emphasized.

“We gather in prayer for Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Croatian people, sending strong messages of peace and unity, the values that we inherit and want to pass on to future generations. We especially remember our Queen Katarina and all those who throughout the history of the Croatian nation made great sacrifices for its freedom and survival. Their sacrifice obliges us to preserve peace, nurture unity and responsibly build the future,” said elected Croatian member of the BiH Presidency Filipović.
