The Demands of Pensioners have not been met

Today’s meeting of representatives of pensioners in the Federation of BiH with representatives of the FBiH Government did not finish with agreement, but certain conclusions were reached that could help solve some problems.

The relevant minister, Adnan Delić, addressed the journalists after the meeting and pointed out the problems because, since he assumed this function, there are different demands.

“There will be nothing from the extraordinary adjustment of pensions,” said Delić, who stated that this can happen if the budget is not in deficit, which is not the case now.

He noted that there is no legal basis for this.

He promised an additional million BAM for spa treatment when the budget is rebalanced, probably by the end of October, and the payment of one-time aid.

According to him, it was already established earlier that two million BAM will be planned for spa treatment and that a council of pensioners will be formed.

“We agreed that we will plan in the budget rebalancing one million BAM for this year for spa treatment and two million BAM for the next,” stated Delić.

However, as he says, the Law on PIO/MIO will not be changed until the October elections.

“We know what that means, the collapse of the entire system can happen,” explained Delić.

He stated that a working group of competent institutions and external experts will be formed regarding the Law on PIO/MIO. If they decide by the end of this year that some part of the law needs to be changed urgently and abbreviated, it will be initiated.

“Regardless of the possibilities, the requests exceed the competencies of the ministries because it is impossible for us to do it ourselves,” said the relevant minister and added that an opinion and a financial assessment must be obtained for changes.

Redžo Mehić, president of the Federation of Associations of Pensioners of the FBiH, stated that the situation is not great, but that the circumstances in which we are talking must be taken into account, such as the political and economic situation in the country and the world.

“The day is not purple,” he added.

Clarifying the problems of the Law on PIO/MIO, he stated that it is a good legal solution that has been worked on for a long time, but during its application, illogicalities came to the surface that require amendments.

Given that one-time aid is being counted on, he said that the amount is not known, but that he will make an effort to distribute it in the right way, and the experiences of other countries will be copied.

“There will probably be higher amounts for minimum pensions,” he added, Onasa writes.
