To the joy of households and businessmen, Gradačac no longer has a problem with water supply, thanks to a three-year project whose value is more than 30 million BAM.

The mayor of Gradačac, Edis Dervišagić, said that it is the biggest project in the recent history of Gradačac, the significance of which is multiple.

According to him, a whole new system was built in the southern part of the territory of Gradačac, and the reconstruction of pipes in the city area is underway. Also, a new wastewater treatment plant and a new sewage network were built.

In addition to that project, which was the foundation for further economic development, Dervišagić pointed out that they are introducing a contractor to the reconstruction of the Old Town complex in Gradačac.

“After many problems regarding building permits, we managed to start work after a public tender,” said Dervišagić, stating that he expects these works to significantly contribute to the tourist development of Gradačac.

He announced that the two artificial lakes that are almost in the center of the city, and which are not popular and used enough, will also be on the list of promotion and investment.

Works are also underway in the Ilidža spa complex. A new segment of the spa was built, which expands the capacity, and in the coming period, the interior will be renovated, which will give the old spa new facilities.

The project of covering the city stadium is also current.

“Our goal is to create favorable conditions in that sphere of social activity as well,” said Dervišagić and added that there are current and regular projects for the improvement of road infrastructure, development of infrastructure in industry, which is the pride of this city.

Official statistical indicators show that last year more than 525 million BAM of various products were exported from Gradačac, mainly to the EU market.

Therefore, Dervišagić pointed out, Gradačac is among five municipalities and cities in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and among six in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“These are economic capacities that really need to be respected,” emphasized Dervišagić.

He reminded that the economy of Gradačac records the most significant results in the metal sector, above all in the automotive industry. In Gradačac, he adds, parts for many global car brands are produced.

“In addition, we have several fashion ready-made factories and two large dairies, which together process about 35 percent of the milk capacity of the entire BiH market,” said Dervišagić.

As for agriculture, fruit growing dominates, and Gradačac is known as the city of plums.

Dervišagić says that the orchards are characterized by modern agrotechnical measures.

“Our fruit producers did not wait for the support of the state and found markets on their own in various destinations and our plums dominate the EU market,”  said Dervišagić.

With all the significant projects that are renovating Gradačac, Dervišagić complained that young people are leaving, stating that they are not isolated from this problem, but that the trend of leaving is not as pronounced as in some other areas, Fena reports.
