The European Union gives full support to Biden’s plan for Gaza

The European Union fully supports the comprehensive roadmap presented by US President Joe Biden, which would lead to a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, the release of all hostages and an increase in humanitarian aid to Gaza, it was announced from Brussels.

The European Union appreciates the determined efforts of the US, Egypt and Qatar in facilitating negotiations to end the war between Israel and Hamas, while ensuring Israel’s security, to which the EU remains fully committed.

“Too many civilian lives have been lost. A permanent ceasefire is urgently needed to ensure the protection of civilians, the unconditional and immediate release of all hostages whose safety and well-being are at stake, and to increase the flow of much-needed humanitarian aid to Gaza as the deepening humanitarian crisis. Peace and stability in the Middle East are in the interest of both peoples, the region as a whole, but also globally,” the statement said.

The European Union encourages both sides to accept and implement the three-phase proposal and is ready to contribute to the revival of the political process for a lasting and sustainable peace, based on a two-state solution, and to support coordinated international efforts for the reconstruction of Gaza.
