The meeting between US President Donald Trump and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin scheduled for tomorrow is indeed being prepared, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said today at a press briefing, answering a question from a reporter for the Russian state news agency TASS.
“Yes, that’s true. Such a meeting is being prepared for Tuesday,” Peskov said.
Trump told reporters the day before that he planned to meet with the Russian president on Tuesday. According to the US leader, he intends to pay special attention to territorial and infrastructure issues in the context of the Ukrainian conflict.
The last telephone conversation between Putin and Trump took place on February 12. The leaders of the two countries discussed the Ukrainian issue for an hour and a half, as well as the accumulated problems in the relations between the two countries.
The Russian and American presidents then agreed to continue contacts, including organizing a face-to-face meeting. As part of these agreements, Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff visited Putin in Moscow, TASS reports.
