Yesterday’s main hearing in the case “Alija Delimustafic et al” was canceled an hour before the start of the scheduled hearing. This is also the 52nd time that the main trial has been postponed.
Judge Igor Todorovic scheduled yesterday’s main hearing in this case for 12:30 p.m., but as confirmed by the Court of Canton Sarajevo (CS), it was canceled due to the poor health of the two defendants, and the judge postponed the trial for that reason.
This is one of the most complex cases that is pending before the CS Court, but the trial of the accused has not yet begun even after six years since the indictment was filed and confirmed.
In addition to Delimustafic, 37 other natural and legal persons were charged, and they are charged with criminal acts of organized crime, abuse of position or authority, violation of the law by a judge, money laundering, falsification of documents, fraud, and assisting a perpetrator after a criminal offense has been committed.
Given the number of times the main trial has been postponed in this court proceeding and considering the complexity of the case, additional postponements also create additional costs for the court. However, the question arises why the main hearing is canceled when one of the accused is unable to attend the hearing.
In that case, can he be represented by his defendant so that this case, which is the result of an arrest as part of the action “Justice” (”Pravda”) carried out by the Federal Police Administration in 2017, really gets justice?
Even after six years, the public remains deprived of adequate punishment for those who, among other things, as a criminal group, resold the apartments, mostly of deceased persons from the area of CS, Klix.ba reports.
