UNICEF Invites B&H Citizens to Get Involved in the Fight for Prevention and Elimination of Violence Against Children

nasilje_nad_djetetomUNICEF invites citizens of B&H to engage in an active fight for the prevention and elimination of all forms of violence against children on the occasion of marking the International Day on Prevention of Child Abuse on 19th November and the International Day of Children’s Rights on 20 November.

UNICEF’s initiative to raise awareness in the fight for the prevention and elimination of violence against children in B&H is funded by the EU. Many activities were implemented during October within the project “To say No to violence against children”.

Project activities included creative and educational workshops for children and a presentation of the document “Guidelines for dealing with cases of violence against children” that was earlier adopted by the B&H Council of Ministers. This document provides official guidance to relevant institutions in B&H to properly respond to any possible case of violence and abuse against children.

B&H has accepted the obligations of article 19 of the UN Convention on children’s rights and became obliged to undertake all the legislative, administrative, social and educational measures to protect children from all forms of violence, neglect and abuse.

UNICEF invites all the citizens who notice any form of violence against a child to not remain silent but to inform the responsible institutions, above all police, announced UNICEF.
