The United States of America is working to open a maritime corridor for the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, the White House announced.
“Indeed, as the President (Joe Biden) has just announced, the US will be releasing aid to Gaza in coordination with our international partners, particularly Jordan, in the coming days,” it said.
National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said they would also redouble their efforts to open a humanitarian maritime corridor for smaller amounts of humanitarian aid by sea.
Israel launched a deadly offensive on the Gaza Strip after Hamas attacked Israel on October 7, killing at least 30,631 Palestinians and wounding 72,043.
On January 26, following a genocide lawsuit filed by the Republic of South Africa, the International Court of Justice ruled that Israel must refrain from any actions related to the killing, attacks and destruction of the residents of the Gaza Strip and take all measures to prevent genocide.
Attacks, however, continue unabated, and the delivery of aid remains insufficient to address the humanitarian disaster, AA writes.
