The Presidency of B&H adopted the Decision on the establishment of diplomatic relations with the member states of the United Nations (UN) in 2008, by which they are not established. On the other hand, the official data is showing that our country established diplomatic relations with only 3 countries within this and the last year.
At its 45 session on the 18th of September 2008, the Presidency of B&H adopted the Decision on the establishment of diplomatic relations with the member states of the UN with which diplomatic relations were not established, and to which, among the other things, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was committed to take concrete measures regarding this.
“Even though the concerned decision and the resulting moves of MFAB&H led to the establishment of diplomatic relations with a number of countries with which diplomatic relations were not established earlier, however, according to data from the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of B&H in this and the past year B&H established diplomatic relations with only 3 countries,” said the Minister of Foreign Affairs Igor Crnadak.
According to the data from the same website, B&H established diplomatic relations with 163 member states of the UN and with the Holy See, which indicates that the diplomatic relations have not been established with 30 member states of the UN yet, and with more than 15 % countries in the world.
For comparison, neighboring countries Croatia and Serbia have established diplomatic relations with 172, or 188 member states of the UN.
