A prosecutor of the Special Department for Organised Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption has filed an indictment against Rajo Kikić, born in 1963 in Brezik, Brcko, employed as a BiH Border Police officer.

The accused is charged that on 16 March 2020, while working at the border crossing in Brčko in the period when special health and sanitary protection measures aimed at preventing the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic were in place and in order to acquire illegal property gain allowed three persons to enter the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina without passing through sanitary supervision and isolation measures.

The above-mentioned persons originating from the area of Brčko came from the Republic of Austria, they did not have the necessary travel documents and, in accordance with the law and the prescribed measures, they should have been denied entry into Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Within the activities of the competent authorities to prevent the spread of the pandemic, the said persons were found and placed into compulsory isolation for a prescribed period.

The accused is charged with demanding and receiving a gift for himself in order to perform, within the scope of his official function, what he should not have performed or what he should have performed, thus committing the criminal offence of Accepting Gifts and Other Forms of Benefit under Article 217 (1) of the Criminal Code of BiH.
