“This year, more than 60,000 migrants should enter in Bosnia and Herzegovina, while last year, there were a total of 24,000,”BiH Human Rights Ombudsman Ljubinko Mitrovic said on Thursday.

In more than 98 percent of cases, migrants were without any identification documents and entered places not foreseen to be crossed at BiH border.

Representing at the National Assembly of Republika Srpska a special report on the state of migration, Mitrovic stated that about 25 percent of these persons come from Syria, and in almost 80 percent of cases are economic migrants from Pakistan, Iraq, Iraq, Libya and Afghanistan.

Officials of the BiH Human Rights Ombudsman visited all locations where BiH migrants are located, and in the recommendations, they initiated the increase of the efficiency of border control, entry and stay of foreigners and raising the higher level of protection of BiH citizens’ safety, as well as the provision of adequate rights for migrants.

It was stated that the announcements are very pessimistic and Mitrovic called for the reaction of all levels of government to adequately address extremely serious problem.
