Abolition of Visas is Stimulus for the Economy

moscow-nights-aForeign Minister of BiH Zlatko Lagumdžija and Foreign Minister of Russia Sergei Lavrov agreed that in our country it is necessary to strengthen the role of the Special Representative of the EU at yesterday’s bilateral meeting in Moscow. In this sense, it would reduce the role of the High Representative to BiH.

Minister Lagumdžija told this to ‘Dnevni Avaz’, and he assessed the issue of the exiting of OHR, which Lavrov emphasized, is a process, and not an event.

The BiH Minister of Foreign Affairs confirmed to ‘Avaz’ that he agreed with the statement of his Russian colleague that it is necessary to allow a faster transfer of responsibility for the future of BIh in the national hands, but stressed that the withdrawal of OHR is directly tied to the implementation of constitutional reforms.

“Regarding the role of OHR, there is no unified position nor in the BiH Presidency, among BiH political leaders, and the Peace Implementation Council. Anyway, my point is that this is an institution that has to exist, primarily in order to protect the peace agreement. Another thing is that this is not an institution that needs to interfere in everyday politics’’, said Lagumdžija.

The two Ministers signed an agreement yesterday between the BiH Council of Ministers and the Russian government on mutual travel of citizens and a plan for consultation between Ministers of Foreign Affairs in the two countries for the period of 2013-2013. Lagumdžija said that the agreement of abolishing visas is a big boost of tourism, but also for the economy of the two countries.

Lagumdžija said that Minister Lavrov emphasized Russia’s unequivocal support to the unity and stability of BiH. He assessed that this position of Russia has remained unchanged.

“We both agreed that BIH has to continue to integrate in the region. In this light, we spoke on economic projects’’, he said.
