Acimovic: Tensions in Ukraine could have serious Consequences for BiH

”The situation in Ukraine should be clarified by February 15th, but things should not be seen in black and white, ” said the former honorary consul of Ukraine and economist Drasko Acimovic.

The situation is not black and white

”Things in global politics are not happening geostrategically from today to tomorrow. Things are planned. The whole situation is not black and white, there are many shades of gray. Ukraine has oil reserves of nine trillion, Ukraine is the largest producer of wheat in the world, it also participates in uranium production, so many things that are happening there are related to financial interests, ” Acimovic stated.

He stated that the map from 2004 after the elections speaks best about the division of the state.

”The two presidents had divided power, that blue part where Viktor Yanukovych won is the whole eastern part. It is unbelievable that it did not happen in any other city that another candidate won,” stated Acimovic.

He said that at the moment, not only the United States (U.S.) but also the United Kingdom (UK) and Japan are preparing to withdraw.

”The goal is already being achieved in some way, the goal of these conflicts, the goal of someone else, at this moment foreign investors are leaving the country, withdrawing capital. Ukrainians always think about the present, they never care so much about the past. They are preparing for the events in Luhansk and Donetsk, but without panic, without euphoria, as foreigners do, ” he stated.

He added that territorial defense is currently being organized, but nothing offensive. The president, he added, informed the citizens that large diplomatic talks are being held, so it can still be said that diplomacy is working in the field.

Asked whether tensions in Ukraine could have serious consequences for the situation in the Balkans, especially in BiH, Acimovic said yes.

Russia has great energy power

”Things that have been agreed between the great powers, which we do not know, may have great repercussions in their agreements within the country. Some corrupt politicians could use this situation to provoke conflict. That is something that can happen in BiH, ” he pointed out.

He added that the situation should be clarified by February 15th.

”Russia has great energy power. All the problems always arose in the winter, when the gas supply could be manipulated. If some bigger things happen, then they will happen by February 15th. After that, I think that diplomacy and reason will prevail, ” told Acimovic.
