BiH Delegation attended the UN Conference on Climate Change in Egypt

The United Nations climate conference, in Egypt, gathered and united the whole world on the issue of climate change, the consequences of which can be seen today even by those who ignored or underestimated the magnitude of their scale, an MP in the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly, Saša Magazinović, told FENA.

MPs and members of the Green Club Saša Magazinović and Jasmin Emrić attended the United Nations (UN) Conference on Climate Change (COP27), which is being held this year in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt.

“Although all countries of the world have ‘equal obligations’ in the fight against climate change, it is clear that we are not all equally responsible for climate change and its consequences. The responsibility in mitigating the consequences is not the same. Economically and industrially developed countries, at the same time as the biggest polluters, must bear the brunt of this struggle,” Magazinović believes.

He says that this is exactly what UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres was talking about, announcing that the time has come for a historic agreement between the developed part of the world and developing countries with the aim of financial assistance and acceleration of the green transition.

According to him, COP27 is taking place in extremely complex geopolitical circumstances, primarily caused by the Russian aggression against Ukraine, as well as the economic consequences that the aggression caused around the world.

For this reason, he states, it should not be surprising that the UN informed that 50 poorest countries are close to bankruptcy. The logical question that arises is how these countries, like many others that are facing enormous economic problems, can participate in the fight against climate change. The solidarity of the economically powerful is the only answer, and that answer must be concrete and visible because the fight against climate change costs a lot.
