Ceremony on the Occasion of the BiH Statehood Day held in Banja Luka

For the first time since the signing of the Dayton Peace Agreement, the Statehood Day of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) was marked yesterday in Banja Luka, with a ceremonial academy organized by the Banja Luka City Organization of the Social Democratic Party of (SDP) BiH.

Nermin Niksic, the president of the SDP BiH, pointed out that he was happy, satisfied, and proud of the City Organization of the SDP in Banja Luka, which organized this event.

“I think this is a really good date to show that we respect what started 900 years ago in BiH, the Charter of Kulina Ban, and everything that 247 councilors of State Anti-fascist Council for the National Liberation of BiH (ZAVNOBIH) did. In my opinion, there is no one in this country who can have anything against the conclusion that “BiH is neither Serb, nor Croat, nor Muslim, but also Serb, Croat, and Muslim, a country of unitedpeoples, in which we will all be equal on every inch of this country,” he told yesterday.

Further, he added that this is the message that the SDP BiH wants to send, noting that they will be the voice of reason and an outstretched hand for any compromise that will go in the direction of “realizing that this is our common homeland where we will all feel at home, this is one house for all of us“.

He emphasized that this is a time when we should not look for differences but show unity in this way, with a civilized approach, conversation, by showing an outstretched hand.

“I think that we politicians are creating this kind of split more than the citizens,” he noted.

Vojin Mijatovic, Vice President of the SDP BiH, congratulated the Statehood Day to all people throughout BiH and those who do not live in BiH.

“For the first time in post-Dayton BiH, welcome to Banja Luka on Statehood Day. Without a lot of story and philosophy, they claimed it is not possible, they claimed we won’t do it, here’s the answer behind me, BiH, and a very clear sentence that either we will fail together or we will succeed together, but I supportsuccess. The SDP sends messages of peace and unity from Banja Luka tonight,”  he said last night.

Commenting on the issues he had during the organization of this event in Banja Luka, he said that “when you want to do something, nothing is complicated, you just need a little courage and to be a little Bosnian and Herzegovinian, stubborn, and everything is possible.”
