felix ungerThe signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation with the European Academy of Sciences and Arts opened the door of BiH to European academics and the development of science. The President of the European Academy, the prominent professor Felix Unger, visited Sarajevo with the aim, as he said, to continue cooperation that the two academies started 25 years ago.

“I’m happy to be here after a terrible war that you went through. Members of the Academy want to establish cooperation in all fields, which we just did with the signing of this memorandum. I have a good feeling when it comes to the future of BiH because I can see a lot of young and smiling faces that are the potential of this country,” said Unger.

Prof. Dr. Senka Mesihovic-Dinarevic said that all academics are very happy that Professor Unger responded to their invitation and that they established cooperation with the Academy, which gathers more than 1,600 scientists.

“On the basis of this memorandum, members of the European Academy in various fields will come every year to share their knowledge and experience. I think this will be a new wind in the back to BiH to be a part of the contemporary modern society. With this, we will become active members of the Academy and encourage our youth to do scientific-research work. This is great for BiH,” said Mesihovic-Dinarevic.

In the organization of the Committee on Cardiovascular Pathology OMN ANUBiH, yesterday was held a lecture entitled “The Next Europe and the role of the Balkans” by Prof. Dr. Unger, who is one of the biggest names in the world of medicine and cardiac surgery because he made the first artificial heart in the 1970’s.

Prof. Dr. Unger is a member of many academies of sciences and arts, extremely respected scientist with more than 400 published scientific papers.
