Now it is clear – The National Museum will be opened for visitors again from the middle of September.
After the Head of the National Museum decided to lock its entrance, put two crossed boards and send a message to the world that it is close, on 4th October 2012, due to a constant neglects of the state, many people expressed their support to this cultural institutions of the national importance.
From institutions that tried to find a solution, media that wrote about the closure of the Museum as about a disgrace of our country in the eyes of the world, to numerous citizens who expressed their resentment on the authorities on social media.
After a change of the government and efforts of the international community, and several months of activities of the non-governmental sector through the action #JaSamMuzej, signing of a document that will define the destiny of the National Museum is announced for the next week.
On Tuesday, 15th September, just before the removal of boards from the majestic doors of the Museum, representatives of all levels of government will, in the Ministry of Civil Affairs, sign a memorandum on a debt payment and financing of the cultural institutions of the state importance: The National Museum B&H, Historical Museum B&H, The National Gallery B&H, Museum of Literature and Theater Arts B&H, Kinoteka B&H, Library for Blind and Visually Impaired Persons B&H, National and the University Library of B&H.
Public greeted the opening of the museum. But, there is a question Will the National Museum be a place that will be gladly and often visited?
