The real growth rate of gross domestic product (GDP) for the second quarter of this year in Republika Srpska (RS) is 0.7 percent, while for the first quarter it was 0.9 percent, and Republika Srpska recorded record employment since its inception, it was announced from Bureau of the Government of the Republic of Srpska for public relations.

GDP in 2022 amounted to 14.5 billion BAM, and the real growth rate was 3.9 percent.

“Higher direct taxes, contributions and other public revenues were achieved in the period January-August 2023 and amount to 2.4 billion BaM, and are higher by 15.3 percent compared to the same period in 2022”, announced the Government of the RS.

Indirect taxes remitted to the RS in the period January-August 2023 amount to 1.5 billion BAM and are higher by 3.7 percent compared to the same period last year.

One of the positive indicators is the coverage of imports by exports, which for the period January-July 2023 amounted to 77.2 percent.

The Government points out that the Republika Srpska has recorded record employment since its inception, and the latest data from March shows that 290,237 workers are employed in the RS.

The average net salary in July is 1,278 BAM, while the average net salary in the period January-July was 1,263 BAM, which means that the growth of the average net salary is 14.2 percent (real growth is 4.7 percent).

“Real wage growth in the RS is higher than inflation. The average wage for July this year is 1,278 BAM, and inflation for the same month was 5.2 percent, which means that the real wage growth is higher than inflation,” the Government of the RS states.

The total debt on July 31 of this year is 39.5 percent of GDP, and the public debt on that day is 33.2 percent of GDP, Srna reports.
