The helicopter of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina is currently extinguishing a large fire in Neum that has spread to the village of Hutovo.
”The situation at the fire site is still difficult, and the fire line is over 10 kilometers long,” said Marko Tapalovic from the Neum Municipal Civil Protection Service, adding that so far neither houses nor commercial buildings are threatened.
“The fire does not threaten the houses at the moment, but there are frequent changes in the intensity and direction of the wind, so I do not dare to give any forecasts,” he emphasized.
There are 14 firefighters from Neum with seven vehicles on the ground.
Extinguishing is made difficult by the wind and the inaccessibility of the terrain.
