In Bosnia and Herzegovina, an average of six million BAM in fines imposed due to traffic violations expire annually, so the Committee for Traffic and Communications of the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly will discuss the application of penal provisions at today’s session.
At the end of 2022, the largest debtor owed more than 270,000 BAM, and the debt of the largest 20 debtors amounted to nearly 1.5 million BAM, the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH announced.
Research data show that in practice it happens that individuals who have the largest debt manage to prove that they are unable to pay it, because formally and legally they have no permanent income, are not employed, do not own property, drive someone else’s car, and at the same time make new offenses.
The Parliament of Bosnia and Herzegovina stated that the tragic outcome of the traffic accident in Sarajevo, in which a young doctor was killed, was caused by a person who was driving a vehicle without a driver’s license and under the influence of alcohol, and who had previously been fined 2,000 BAM for traffic violations.
