Inspectorate in Sarajevo fines Parents who refuse to vaccinate Children

The topic of punishing parents who refuse to vaccinate their children has been revived on social media after a sharp increase in received confirmations of their sanctions in 2023.

In case of refusal to implement the legal provision of mandatory immunization, according to Article 70 of the Law on the Protection of the Population from Infectious Diseases, and regarding Article 40 of the same law, the parent or guardian shall be fined for failure to provide due care for a minor, in the amount of 100 BAM to 2.000 BAM.

In the period 2020-2022, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, although immunization was not suspended, a smaller number of confirmations of dismissal of immunization were received due to the extraordinary circumstances of the work of health institutions.

Thus, only 56 confirmations were received during 2022, and 56 calls to parents. A total of 23 parental couples refused the vaccinate their children, and they received misdemeanor orders in the amount of 100 BAM or 2.300 BAM.

It is symptomatic that during 2023, the number of confirmations received suddenly increased. Thus, 57 confirmations were received in January this year, on the basis of which 33 inspection surveillance was carried out.

In February, this number was 52 calls, 50 of which were supervised, while in March, up to the moment of consisting of information, more than 100 confirmations of incomplete vaccination status were received and calls were sent to parents, Klix.ba reports.
