ekobis-izlagaci-600x450The 14th International Ecology Fair EKOBIS 2016 was opened in Bihać yesterday. The fair is organized by the Chamber of Commerce of the Una-Sana Canton. Many visitors visited the fair on the first day, causing satisfaction among organizers and exhibitors.

This year’s EKOBIS features more than 100 booths with as much as 200 exhibitors from eight countries. Among exhibitors at the fair are many chambers of commerce from the entire region, especially from Croatia, Serbia and BiH, a large number of institutions whose primary activity is related to environmental protection, educational institutions, non-governmental and ecology organizations, business societies, exporters, and craftsmen.

EKOBIS 2016 is organized under the motto “Survival – creation of conditions for employment and stay of young people” and it is dedicated to the survival and stay of young people in BiH. In accordance with this, a dozen young exhibitors got their exhibition space at the fair entirely for free or at symbolic prices.

“With this theme we wanted to accentuate the creation of conditions for the stay of young people in the region. Here we did it in a way that we gave them free booths to show what they have and what they can do, in order to encourage other young people who want to leave the country and show them that they do not have to do that,” said Nihad Šušnjar, Secretary General of the Chamber of Commerce of the Una-Sana Canton, the traditional organizer of the event.

During the past 13 EKOBIS fairs in Bihać, more than 3.500 exhibitors from 18 countries presented their products and more than 180.000 visitors visited the fair. This year’s fair lasts until Sunday, September 11.
