Israeli ground forces operated inside the Gaza Strip and attacked several positions of the Palestinian militant organization Hamas, after which they withdrew, the Israeli army said.
The army released footage of armored vehicles driving through the sand zone on the border between Israel and Gaza. The video shows a bulldozer leveling parts of the embankment, tanks opening fire and explosions near or between damaged buildings.
In the statement, it is emphasized that the operation was carried out in order to prepare a new phase of the fight, which analysts assess as a possible suggestion of an invasion threatened by the Israeli leadership as part of the fight against Hamas.
“After the operation, the soldiers withdrew and returned to the territory of Israel,” the announcement states, Srna reports.
