Lidl gave up Investing in BiH?

The director of the Foreign Investment Promotion Agency (FIPA) of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Milica Markovic, confirmed that the state institution had not received any official notification from Lidl that they would give up investing in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

She stated that yesterday that FIPA employees were in contact with the Executive Director of Lidl for the market of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and that he also stated that there was no information about leaving the BiH market, and that decisions were made at higher levels.

“We know that Lidl has been intensively searching for locations for its markets throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina in the past period, and that finding them, ie collecting the necessary documentation in that process, was very difficult and slow.

“It remains to be seen, but FIPA BiH has not received an official notification that they are withdrawing from the BiH market. This was reported by some media last week,” Markovic said.

She stated that FIPA did not have direct contact in the process of their registration on the market of Bosnia and Herzegovina, but they actively monitored the process of their arrival during 2021.

Some media stated that they have information that “Lidl is still withdrawing from Bosnia and Herzegovina”, because in this company they are “dissatisfied with certain actions of institutions in BiH towards such a large investor”.
