monitoringThe BH Journalists Association began the implementation of monitoring of media on the occasion of the election campaign for the general elections in 2014 in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

According to the Association of BH Journalists, the monitoring will last until October 25th, and the first report will be presented on October 1st and on November 15th.

The publication will be made out of the final report, which will be available to media and the entire BH society.

In addition, it is important to note that the monitoring will be implemented in accordance with the Council of Europe standards for pre-election media coverage, and will focus on two areas.

The first area is the presence of hate speech in the pre-election media content, and the second is the frequency and manner of presentation of politicians in the media.

The monitoring is carried out within the framework of regional (SEE) project of the Council of Europe ‘Promoting freedom of expression and press freedom in Southeast Europe’, which is funded by the Government of Norway.

A professor from the Faculty of Political Sciences in Sarajevo Lejla Turčilo said that the Association has a clear set hypothesis when it comes to hate speech and inappropriate speech and that such phenomena will be separated and special attention will be put on them.

The samples used for the study will be the daily newspapers which are the most-viewed and weekly newspapers, as well as the TV stations.
