b_161010120There are no open issues between BiH and Slovenia and the only disputable issue that hindered the relations of the two countries, the return of old foreign currency savings in the Ljubljanska Bank, will soon be solved, confirmed the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia Karl Erjavec at yesterday’s meeting with the Chairman of the Presidency of BiH Bakir Izetbegović.

It was concluded at the meeting that bilateral relations between BiH and Slovenia are traditionally good and friendly and that there are still many opportunities for further improvement of cooperation on economic plan.

Erjavec congratulated Izetbegović on the approval of BiH application for membership in the EU and expressed satisfaction with the progress of BiH.

Furthermore, Erjavec emphasized the readiness of Slovenia to continue providing support for BiH on its European path, where experiences of Slovenia can be truly beneficial.

Izetbegović stated that he expects this support and assistance to be continued in the context of acquiring the candidate status for membership in the EU, highlighting that regional cooperation and good relations in the region are of great importance for BiH.

Moreover, Izetbegović stated that membership in the EU is the most important foreign policy goal of BiH and that it continues being the driving force for positive democratic, political, economic and social changes in BiH.

According to the achieved trade exchange in 2015, Slovenia is among the countries on the top of the list of most significant foreign trade partners of BiH, and it is also one of the most significant investor countries in BiH.

“Purchase of premises for the embassy of Slovenia in Sarajevo is another indicator of good relations,” Erjavec said at the meeting. The meeting was attended by advisors Zoran Đerić and Dejan Vanjek on behalf of the members of the BiH Presidency Dragan Čović and Mladen Ivanić, stated the Presidency of BiH.
