water supplyAfter the Minister of communal economy of Sarajevo Canton, Senad Hasanspahić, said that they are working on a draft that proposes new tariff system and higher prices of water, the Prime Minister of Canton Sarajevo, Elmedin Konaković, denied the allegations and said that the water prices will not and should not go up.

On his Facebook profile, Prime Minister wrote that the citizens are already paying a higher price of water when the arrangement with the EBRD was agreed, but was not realized in the end.

“Tonight, some reckless statements stirred up the public. I would be ashamed if water prices would go up and burden citizens who do not have a regular water supply. Firstly, management of Water Supply and Sewage (ViK) need to solve problems in the Water Supply and Sewerage (VIK). Their job is to sanction thousands of illegal consumers, to charge the bills of tycoons who do not pay water for longer period of time and to increase revenues. Then to reduce unnecessary expenditures and reception staff in the administration, not to buy official cars while in storage they do not have the basic tools to work, ” wrote Konaković.

Moreover, he pointed out that he is ashamed sometimes when he sees who is working in state-owned enterprises and that. For the end. Konakovic adds that he will fight to the end that no party protects the key persons working in these companies.

Tonight, in the program of TVSA, the relevant minister, together with the director of KJKP Water and Sewage, Nezir Hadzic, concluded that the solutions to the problems of  VIK is in taking a loan. Moreover, they agreed that the current price of water is low and unfair.
