Prosecutor’s Office filed an Indictment against Seven Persons

The prosecutor of the Special Department for Organized Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina filed an indictment against seven persons, charging them with organized crime in connection with the unauthorized international traffic of the narcotic drug cocaine from the territory of the European Union to the territory of BiH.

The indictment was brought against Mitja Kontič, born in 1988 in Sloven Gradec, Slovenia, a citizen of the Republic of Slovenia, who is in custody; Aleksandar Nikolić aka Saša, born in 1991 in Sarajevo, a citizen of BiH, is in custody; Boris Grujić, born in 1981 in Banja Luka, citizen of BiH and Serbia, Slaven Radinković, born in 1997 in Banja Luka, citizen of BiH; Jovan Šuman, born in 1997 in Banja Luka, citizen of BiH; Igor Zarić, born in 1996 in Banja Luka, a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia, and Damjan Tepić, born in 1993 in Banja Luka, a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina, was announced by the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The defendants are accused of, in the period from August 2022 to April 2023, as members of an organized crime group, which operated in the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Slovenia, acting jointly with clearly defined roles and tasks, with the aim of obtaining illegal property benefits, on several occasions carried out the unauthorized international transfer, hiding and delivery of the intoxicating drug cocaine in large quantities from abroad to Bosnia and Herzegovina, for further sale in the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

According to the indictment, the accused Mitja Kontič is charged with smuggling and delivering to the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the narcotic drug cocaine in the amount of 1 kilogram hidden in the tank of the vehicle, the value of which on the illegal drug market reaches the amount of 35,000 euros.

The said narcotic drug was seized, during the implementation of the operation codenamed “Market”, by the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republika Srpska, in February 2023, at the moment of the handover of the narcotic drug in a rented apartment in the area of Banja Luka. On that occasion, the accused Šuman, Radinković, Zarić, Tepić and Grujić were deprived of their liberty.

The accused Kontič is accused of having on March 14 of this year, after taking two kilograms of cocaine in Ljubljana, hand over the narcotic drug to Aleksandar Nikolić according to a prior agreement and hand over money in the amount of 18,000 euros.

Both were deprived of their liberty in a coordinated action by the MoI of the Sarajevo Canton and the MoI of the Republika Srpska in the area of Sarajevo, and during the search, money in the specified amount was found.

During the searches carried out at several locations, 1 kilogram of the narcotic drug cocaine, a large amount of money, a gun, a large number of mobile phones, two passenger cars that were used in the execution of the aforementioned crimes were found and seized, of which one passenger car has a built-in special bunker for illegal transportation of goods, so called the pike that was used for smuggling, it is stated in the statement.

The indictment was forwarded to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina for confirmation.
