Russia has announced that it has sent 25 tons of humanitarian aid to Egypt for delivery to the Gaza Strip, the Guardian reports.

“A special plane of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations delivered 25 tons of humanitarian aid to the Arab Republic of Egypt,” the Russian emergency service announced on social networks.

Photos were released of staff loading cargo onto an Il-76 plane at the airport in the central Russian city of Kazan, saying the shipment contained food and hygiene products, as well as clothing and portable stoves.

“The humanitarian aid has already been handed over to the representatives of the Egyptian Red Crescent. Further Russian aid will be sent to the residents of the Gaza Strip,” the announcement states.

This is at least the fifth shipment of aid from Russia to Gaza, the social media of emergency services announced. It should be recalled that the Israeli bombardment has turned the desperate situation in Gaza into a disaster, and the population is facing a shortage of food and water.
