komsic_zoljThe Mayor of Sarajevo Ivo Komšić and the Director of the Sarajevo Canton Road Department Adem Zolj today at the premises of the City Administration signed an agreement on joint funding of the bicycle paths final design, covering Nedžarići – Skenderija. The trail would run along the main city longitudinal in both directions.

The total value of the development of this project is 48.000 BAM. The City of Sarajevo will give 25.000 BAM and the Department will give 23.000 BAM. The City of Sarajevo will implement this Agreement, and will conduct procurement procedures required to create this detailed design.

“The popularization of the bicyclists in the city of Sarajevo is evident, what is obvious in the increasing number of cyclists, especially young people, using it not only for recreational purposes but increasingly as a means of transportation. On the other hand, the development of bicycle transport in urban areas has a positive impact on health, environment, energy saving and especially in traffic”, stated Komšić.

In addition to paths, the project envisages the construction of parking lots for bicycles, benches, fountains and public illumination.
