The Tax Administration of Montenegro reported that due to the boycott of stores on Friday, January 31, the five largest retail chains in the country recorded a 56.14 percent drop in turnover compared to Friday, January 24.
Citizens, as a reminder, boycotted retail chains on that day at the call of Alternativa Crna Gora due to excessive food prices.
“Enclosed is the data that the Tax Administration has and that we are able to share in accordance with the Law on Tax Administration. The data refers to the five largest retail chains in Montenegro (“Voli trade” d.o.o., “Hard Diskont Laković” d.o.o., “Idea-CG” d.o.o., “Domaća trgovina” d.o.o., “Megapromet” d.o.o.),” the Tax Administration said in a statement carried by Radiotelevision of Montenegro.
The biggest drop in traffic was recorded in the northern region of Montenegro, where traffic fell by 61.4 percent.
The turnover in the aforementioned retail chains was 2,790,909 on the previous Friday, January 24, while during the boycott it was 1,224,172 euros.
Alternative Montenegro said that if the boycott proves to be successful, the blockades will last longer, Fena writes.
