The discussion about the Resolution on the genocide in Srebrenica does not stop. Although the vote has been postponed until its final text is drawn up, a diplomatic offensive is underway. Thus, it was officially confirmed from the cabinet of the member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Željka Cvijanović, that she requested an address in the UN Security Council and, according to the first information, the session on the topic of Bosnia and Herzegovina will be held tomorrow. At the same time, the President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, spoke with the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, about, as they announced, the activities of Serbia and its delegation at the UN regarding the proposal to adopt the Resolution on Srebrenica. The president of the “Mothers of Srebrenica” Association, Munira Subašić, and the director of the Srebrenica Memorial Center, Emir Suljagić, traveled to New York, where they will address the UN today regarding the consideration of the Resolution on the Genocide in Srebrenica in the UN General Assembly.
As it was announced from the cabinet of BiH Presidency member Željka Cvijanović, she will address the extraordinary session of the UN Security Council on BiH, scheduled for Tuesday, via video link.
“The Serbian member of the BiH Presidency did not request a visa, because the time is too short for the prescribed deadline, and the date of the session was not known until last night. That is why she will address the session via video link,” Cvijanović’s office announced.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, Ivica Dačić, also spoke. Speaking in the Serbian media, he said that the session of the United Nations Security Council was scheduled at Russia’s request. Dacic said that there will also be a regular session of the Security Council on Bosnia and Herzegovina in mid-May and that the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, will decide who will go there to represent Serbia. He also emphasized that the creators of the resolution on Srebrenica did not expect that Serbia would oppose it so strongly.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik discussed the activities of the Republic of Serbia and its UN delegation regarding the proposal by Germany and other major powers to adopt the Resolution on Srebrenica. As announced by Vučić’s cabinet, Vučić pointed out that “the situation for the Serbian people is very difficult and complex, and that it is quite clear that the big Western countries will try to vote the mentioned resolution”.

After Dodik proposed, Vučić also accepted his idea that the date of the Assembly of the Serbian People should be determined immediately after the UN General Assembly and the vote on the resolution on the genocide in Srebrenica.
At the same time, the president of the “Mothers of Srebrenica” Association, Munira Subašić, and the director of the Srebrenica Memorial Center, Emir Suljagić, traveled to New York, where they will address the UN today regarding the consideration of the Resolution on the Srebrenica genocide in the UN General Assembly. The host of the visit will be Ambassador and Head of the Mission of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the UN Zlatko Lagumdžija. On the social platform X, the Mothers of Srebrenica announced that they came to the UN to say that the victims of genocide must not be forgotten and that the world must be warned not to allow another crime like the one in Srebrenica in 1995.

We remind you that on May 2, the UN General Assembly was supposed to declare the Resolution on the genocide in Srebrenica, but the vote was postponed. This is the second time that the vote on the resolution has been postponed – the first time the vote was supposed to be on April 27, then on May 2. What is known for now, as the reason for the delay, is that the final text of the resolution has not yet been created, as there were many suggestions and meetings with the sponsors of the resolution, BHRT writes.
