MEPs will discuss the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina on Tuesday, “where growing secessionist rhetoric and action threaten the country’s stability,” the European Parliament said in a statement.

“The political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina is increasingly tense, with rising nationalism and separatism continuing to threaten the country’s peace, stability and integrity, including the functioning of state institutions,” the statement said.

It is stated that in January, the United States imposed sanctions on BiH Presidency member Milorad Dodik, accusing him of corruption and threatening the country’s stability.

“In a report on the implementation of the Common Foreign and Security Policy, adopted on 17 February 2022, MEPs called on the EU to also impose targeted sanctions on Mr Dodik and his allies for his corrupt activities, continued destabilization of the country and undermining Bosnia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. and Herzegovina. No EU sanctions are currently in force,” it is stated.
