A joint session of the governments of the Republika Srpska (RS)and the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) was held yesterday in Banja Luka, where current issues related to mutual cooperation were discussed and the directions of cooperation in the coming period were defined.

The Prime Minister of the RS Radovan Viskovic said after the session that seven conclusions had been agreed upon.

He stated that the first conclusion is related to the ban on roundwood exports, according to which the Council of Ministers should make a decision on a permanent ban.

Viskovic stated that one of the conclusions also refers to the issue of nuclear waste disposal at Trgovska Gora, so that everything will be done to prevent storage at this location. Viskovic pointed out that it is important that significant issues were discussed because an agreement can only be reached through discussion.

“It is important to sit down at the same table to agree, if we do not talk, we will not agree on anything. It is also important that the ministers meet their colleagues, and exchange contacts. Everything that the ministers of the two governments agree on in the future will be respected,” he said.

According to him, topics were discussed in all departments, and there was talk of the economy, healthcare, social protection, youth, sports, tourism…

“Projects that are important for BiH and for both entities, I had a meeting before the session with my colleague Niksic, we talked and agreed that no one has any intention or desire to interfere with projects that are important for that area and for that entity, that we should practice sitting down with the chairperson of the Council of Ministers and agreeing on which joint projects from BiH we will apply to the European Union (EU), the World Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development(EBRD) and everyone who want to finance such projects within BiH,” Viskovic said.

“The future of BiH is in dialogue, and if we want to respect each other, then we have to sit down and agree on issues that are of interest to all citizens in BiH,” Viskovic pointed out.
