The Mayor of Sarajevo, Ivo Komšić received today the director of cycling race Tour de France, Christian Prudhomme and the first cycling race Sarajevo Grand Prix 2014 will take place in June next year to mark the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of the First World War.
“It is our great honor that Sarajevo and B&H will host such a prestigious organization and sporting event. This race will symbolically reintegrate Sarajevo and B&H during those days. All together from Sarajevo next year we will send a message of peace, tolerance, understanding and hope, especially for our youth”, stated Mayor Komšić.
He added that the message of this event is clear – the war to never happen again and for the cycling race Sarajevo Grand Prix to run every year in our city, announced the City Administration.
The Director of the Tour de France, Christian Prudhomme expressed his pleasure that the Tour de France with his presence and a number of former winners of this great French sporting event will take place in June next year in Sarajevo and that from the capital city of B&H a new and different picture of this city would be sent.
“In addition to sporting component, which unites, connects and brings people together, Tour de France has an aesthetic and social aspect of tourism”, stated Prudhomme.
