The Government of Republika Srpska (RS) approved yesterday the allocation of five million BAM as an incentive for increasing workers’ salaries.

Through the rebalancing of the RS budget for the previous year, the Ministry of Economy and Entrepreneurship allocated funds amounting to 16.060.000 BAM for salary increase incentives, according to a statement from the Government’s Public Relations Bureau.

These funds are intended for the payment of subsidies to economic entities for the accounting period of January to June 2024, during which an actual salary increase for workers was implemented. In accordance with the Law on Incentives in the Economy of RS and the Rulebook on the Procedure for Allocating Incentives for Salary Increases, these entities became eligible for certain amounts of funds.

Financial expenditure plans for the first half of the previous year allocated 5.000.000 BAM for subsidies as incentives for salary increases, with the remaining portion of the planned amount expected in the coming period, the statement said.

Under the provisions of the stated regulations, no public call is announced for the procedure of allocating incentives for salary increases. Economic entities have a 60-day deadline following the end of the accounting period for which they are seeking incentive funds to submit a request for the incentive.

120.000 BAM for addressing issues of displaced persons and returnees

The Government of RS approved 120.000 BAM for the Republican Secretariat for Displaced Persons and Migration to finance the resolution of issues concerning displaced persons and returnees in RS and returnees to the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH).

Requests for financial assistance from these funds were submitted to the Secretariat by the city of Gradiska for the procurement and installation of equipment for a children’s playground in the Rovine Local Community and the construction of public lighting in the Senjak neighborhood, as well as by the municipality of Brod for the completion of asphalt paving of Stadionska Street in the Rit Local Community.

The goals of the proposed projects are to improve the quality of life and create conditions for sustainable return and incentives for return by providing assistance to internally displaced persons and returnees through projects for the reconstruction, renovation, and construction of communal and public infrastructure facilities, according to the Government’s Public Relations Bureau.

The 2024 RS budget approved funds for the Republican Secretariat for Displaced Persons and Migration, which will be directed toward the reconstruction and construction of residential buildings and communal and public infrastructure facilities in refugee and returnee settlements.
