women7The US Department of Foreign Affairs has asked the Congress to approve 1.34 billion dollars to help women around the world in 2017.

Of that amount, for the projects to prevent violence against women and to strengthen gender equality, around 5.08 million dollars are allocated to BiH. The State Department stated that BiH has a population of 1.91 million women and the help per one woman would be 2.65 dollars.

The State Department reports that investing in women, strengthening their rights and status in society, and representation in business and politics can lead to a strengthening of economic growth, peace as well as security. Speaking of the rankings, BiH is on the 13th place.

Almost half of the money (43 percent) will go to Africa, followed by Central and South Asia (23 percent). The biggest help to women is going to Afghanistan, even 253 million dollars. Followed by Tanzania with 68.2 million, Pakistan with 49.7 million, Ethiopia with 43.3 million, Zambia with 8 million etc.
