The citizens of Sarajevo, as well as all those who wanted to enjoy in this special moment, took their places on the wall of Yellow Bastion a few hours earlier.

Yellow Bastion is especially interesting for the youngest BiH citizens, who wait for the shot of a cannon with great curiosity. Lamps on the Sarajevo mosques are “waiting for” the shot as well every night during Ramadan, so that they can give a sign that it is time for iftar.

Shooting of cannon is a centuries old tradition of Muslims in Sarajevo, which was banned during the political regime in Yugoslavia, but revived again in 1990’s and nurtured until this day.

Cannon man Smail Krivic, dressed in old Bosnian national costume, is responsible for firing of the cannon, and he is doing this since 1997. He took the job of cannon man from muvekit of the Clock Tower.

Take a look at the atmosphere and charm of Ramadan evening on the Yellow Bastion.
