6.8 percent more Tourists in the first two Months

tourists3In the first two months of 2016, Bosnia and Herzegovina was visited by 101.725 tourists, which is by 6.8 percent more than in the same period in 2015.

According to the Agency for Statistics of BiH, in January and February tourists made 222.986 overnight stays or by 6.2 percent more than in the first two months of last year.

The share of domestic tourists in the total number of generated overnight stays is 38.9 percent, which is by 2.4 percent more than in the first two months of 2015, whereas the share of foreign tourists is 61.1 percent or by 12.5 percent more than last year.

Tourists from Croatia made the most overnight stays – 26.1 percent, followed by tourists from Serbia (18.6 percent), Turkey (8.2 percent), Slovenia (6.6 percent), Montenegro (4.3 percent) and Germany (3.2 percent), while tourists from other countries made 33 percent of overnight stays.

When it comes to the length of stay of foreign tourists in BiH, Malta is on the first place with an average stay of 6.4 nights, followed by South African Republic with 4.5 nights, Estonia and New Zealand with 3.9 nights each, and Iceland and Australia with 3.3 nights each.

In February 2016, BiH was visited by 52.157 tourists, which is by 5.2 percent more than in January and in the same month in 2015. Tourists made 109.661 overnight stays, which is by 3.2 percent less than in January and by 3.2 percent more in comparison with February last year.

In the total number of overnight stays in February, the share of domestic tourists is 38.3 percent, or by 6.1 percent less than in January and by 8.2 percent less than in the same month last year.

The share of foreign tourists is 61.7 percent, which is by 1.4 percent less than in January and by 11.8 percent more than in February 2015.

Tourists from Croatia made the most overnight stays in February, 24 percent. Following are tourists from Serbia (22.1 percent), Slovenia (7.4 percent), Turkey (7.1 percent), Italy (3 percent), Germany (2.9 percent) and Austria (2.6 percent), while tourists from other countries made 30.9 percent of overnight stays.

Regarding the length of stay of foreign tourists in BiH, Malta is on the first place with an average stay of 6.4 nights, then South African Republic with 4.4 nights, Estonia with 4.2 nights, New Zealand with 3.8 nights, Denmark with 3.6 nights and Iceland and Australia with 3.5 nights each.
