City of Prijedor is the city of the future according to the prestigious world financial magazine “Financial Times” from London, and this city has received awards in two of the five areas in which, among other things, the European micro-local communities up to 100.000 citizens were rated.

The Mayor of Prijedor, Milenko Djakovic, said at a press conference that these prestigious recognitions confirm that Prijedor is a city of development and a favorable business environment.

“It was about the cost management, where Prijedor took 3rd place among the micro-cities of Europe, and thus confirmed that we manage the budget, allocate the resources, and implement  significant processes in the administration, because these were the subjects of the evaluation,” Djakovic emphasized.

He added that Prijedor took the ninth place in the rating of the Direct Investment Strategy.

“In this way, we have shown that we are a favorable place for investments, that we have strategically prepared all the procedures, organizational units and incentives for investors, in order to make them more competitive,” Djakovic emphasized.

He added that these recognitions confirm once again that the city of Prijedor is moving toward development path, and is a good recommendation for all future investors.

“This will certainly affect the investors who follow all this information, so greater number of them will come to the city of Prijedor with an interest in investing, and we will therefore considerably accept every investor and evaluate how we can cooperate and move further processes of creation of new jobs and the employment of our citizens, “ concluded Djakovic.

Mirjana Ostojic, as the leader of the team which was preparing the city for applying to the “Financial Times”, said that the experience of those cities that previously received these awards showed that it represented a trigger for investors.

“Their interest will be justified, as it was necessary to meet a large number of criteria in order for a city, such as Prijedor, to be found on one of these lists and among the most significant micro-local communities,” Ostojic concluded.
