BiH Authorities provided Funds for Reconstruction of Two Protected Areas

The Minister of Communal Economy, Infrastructure, Spatial Planning, Construction and Environmental Protection of the Sarajevo Canton Almir Bečarević and the Director of the Cantonal Public Institution for Protected Natural Areas Asad Jelešković signed the Agreement on cooperation in the implementation of activities from the valid management plans for the protected natural areas of the Sarajevo Canton.

It is a continuation of the successful cooperation between the Ministry and the Cantonal Public Institution for Protected Natural Areas on the implementation of activities from the valid management plans for protected areas, the implementation of which improves the management, protection, sustainable use and promotion of protected areas.

The total value of the agreement is 377,000 convertible marks (BAM), of which the ministry provided funds in the amount of 300,000 BAM from the budget for 2023, while the remaining funds were provided by the Cantonal Public Institution from its own funds.

The deadline for the implementation of the planned activities according to the agreement is November 2024.

Bečarević pointed out that the agreement focuses on the segment of visitor management of protected areas, so in this sense, among other things, the rehabilitation and reconstruction of wooden bridges in the Vrelo Bosne Nature Monument, the equipping of the Trebević Protected Landscape area with infrastructure for the reception of visitors, is planned, among other things, while in the area In the protected landscape of Bijambare, the planned establishment of a presentation pavilion with a speleo installation, as well as the continuation of work on the construction of a wooden footpath.
