12968589_1149322575118697_2074970240_nDirector of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development for the Western Balkans Holger Muent stated that last year Bosnia and Herzegovina was the biggest partner of this bank among the countries of the Western Balkans and that a significant amount of funds was paid to BiH, which implies that the planned projects are being implemented.

During the meeting with the Prime Minister of the FBiH Fadil Novalić, Muent highlighted that highways and roads are the largest planned projects in BiH in this and the next year.

Government of the FBiH stated that Muent, who approved the increase of excise tax on fuel adopted by the Steering Committee of the Indirect Taxation Authority of BiH, pointed out that the EBRD is willing to accelerate their processes within their procedures for these projects.

According to Muent, BiH can count not only on financial, but also on all necessary technical support from this bank.

Novalić and Muent discussed the cooperation of the FBiH Government and EBRD in certain projects, privatization and implementation of the Reform Agenda in the segment which refers to the improvement of business environment and economic management.

Speaking of the significance of continuation of the construction of the highway, which would stimulate the medium-term growth to a large extent, Novalić highlighted the need for EBRD’s support in expansion and increase of possibilities for faster construction of highways, currently constrained by sources of financing.

Novalić stated that new excise tax opens new possibilities for credit indebtedness and thus for acceleration of the construction of the Corridor 5C which would, in addition to economic growth, favorably influence the increase of the number of employed and the placement of domestic goods.

The meeting was also attended by the Director of EBRD’s office in Sarajevo, Jan Braun.
