casey On Monday, 3rd June, Ambassador Casey raised the flag of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in front of the new British Embassy building in Hamdije Cemerlica street, Sarajevo.

Ambassador Casey said “After 19 years in ‘temporary’ accommodation, it’s great to finally be in a single, purpose-built, Embassy building. The fact that we are doing this at a time of tough restrictions in public spending in the United Kingdom underlines that the UK is firmly committed to Bosnia and Herzegovina for the long term.”

In 1994, a “British Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina” was established in a small villa in Tina Ujevica street. In 1997 it became the British Embassy to Bosnia and Herzegovina, and it subsequently expanded to a second building in Petrakijina street.

For the first time the Embassy will now provide all of its services from a single location in modern and purpose-built premises.
