The President of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ranko Debevec, and the former director of the Intelligence and Security Agency, Osman Mehmedagić, were handed over on Tuesday to the jurisdiction of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina after several hours of questioning at the premises of the Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA).

Debevec and Mehmedagić were arrested yesterday afternoon by SIPA members on the order of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH on suspicion of having committed the criminal offense of abuse of office by illegally wiretapping on judges of the Court of BiH and employees of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH during the implementation of certain investigative actions in Court and Prosecutor’s Office cases.

The Chief Prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Milanko Kajganić, said earlier today that lawyer Vasvija Vidović was also arrested on suspicion of the criminal offense of preventing evidence.

“The arrested persons will be handed over to the acting prosecutor, who after questioning will decide on further steps based on the current file and on the basis of the evidence. The prosecutor will submit a proposal to order custody for up to one month for all suspects,” stated Kajganić.

Ranko Debevec has been in the position of President of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina since December 14, 2016.

In February of this year, Mehmedagić was dismissed from the position of director of the Intelligence and Security Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and in March he was put on the blacklist of the United States of America.
